How They See Us is an experimental documentary short film I helped film at the end of my first year at university. My role was as the editor and sound designer.
This film is about how changing how people perceive what is spoken by judging them by their appearance. Deceiving the audience that certain people are saying certain things, then revealing who actually said it, to try and remove prejudices.
It was a cool film to work on, I had a lot of creative freedom in my role and worked hard to try and create a over-lining theme and story through the 20 interviews we filmed.
In December 2022, How They See Us was showcased in the NAHEMI Eat Our Shorts festival, making it my film festival debut film! Seeing something I edited on the big screen in front of a room filled with strangers was very inspiring in keeping me on the editing pathway.
